"True Christianity is about turning on the light."

Innovative Genesis is a place for new beginnings, thus the title. It’s based on 2 Corinthians 5:17 in the Bible. The verse reads, “What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!”

Now, do those words sound like the Christianity the world and the media are purveying? Perhaps you’ve had your fill of the Jesus and the Christians the world keeps rubbing in your faces and you’d like to see the real thing for once, for yourself.

Isaiah 1:18 states, “Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”

The “Gospel” or the good news is this:
1. God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, Jesus, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
2. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.
3. There is no judgment awaiting those who trust him. But those who do not trust him have already been judged for not believing in the only Son of God. Their judgment is based on this fact: The light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. They hate the light because they want to sin in the darkness. They stay away from the light for fear their sins will be exposed and they will be punished. But those who do what is right come to the light gladly, so everyone can see that they are doing what God wants.”

judgment: “the forming of an opinion, estimate, notion, or conclusion, as from circumstances presented to the mind: Our judgment as to the cause of his failure must rest on the evidence.”
- Dictionary.com

May I challenge you to consider this simple parallel to the above?

You’re at the door of a room you’ve never entered before. You open the door. It’s dark. You reach your hand inside and feel for a light switch. It’s there. Under normal circumstances you would just flip it up and the room would be illuminated. This time however, you have heard from others that flipping this switch will either do nothing at all or will do more than just light the room. It will turn you into something you can’t possibly want to become.

You enter the room without turning on the light. As you do so, you trip over something on the floor in front of you. You fall. You strike your head on the corner of an hard object.
…conclusion, as from circumstances presented to the mind

While rubbing the bump on your head with one hand you feel around with the other and find a corner that appears safe. Fearing what may happen if you continue to move around in the dark, you remain in the corner. You are powerless and alone.
…conclusion, as from circumstances presented to the mind

You eventually get comfortable there in the dark and feeling your way around, you find there are others in similar circumstances with similar fears. Having others with whom to share the darkness, you begin to like it there. You can do anything you want. No one can see you. They’re as much in the dark as you are. You remain in the dark.
…conclusion, as from circumstances presented to the mind

innovative: (from innovate) “to introduce something new; make changes in anything established.”
- Dictionary.com

genesis: “an origin, creation, or beginning.”
- Dictionary.com

True Christianity is about turning on the light. Do it. It could be your Innovative Genesis.
