A dear friend quoted Psalm 37:25 on their timeline and I was reminded of the many times I had shared that verse with our high school groups.
I was significantly older than they and my total passion and joy was being able to tell them that the God they were just beginning to trust, just beginning a real relationship with, would never fail them and never let them down.
I had come through a challenge at one point where it felt as though I was so totally forsaken by a few of my family and friends.
The Holy Spirit had reached through the wall to hold me and said, “They’ve left me, too, but I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
The verse reads, “Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.”
Today, nearly 30 years later, that verse still rings true.
In Matthew 4:4, Jesus says, “It is written in the Scriptures, ‘A person lives not on bread alone, but by everything God says.’ “
Everything God has said has been true. It has always been as fresh, fragrant, warm, and comforting as a newly baked homemade loaf of bread.
