But, the Truth IS personal.

Sharing a testimony about two great men of God during a very vulnerable time in my life, I recalled Pastor nicknaming me, “Mr. Tenacious”.

You see, at the time I was coming through the third affair of a spouse and I was still wearing my wedding ring and had placed hers on my pinky finger to remind me to pray for her and remain faithful to her.

The truth was this:

God loved me.

My vow was to God, first.

His Word said to remain faithful.

His Word said He hated divorce.

Others told me I was crazy and that I should divorce her. They said I had every right to.

My dad said he had a lawyer in tow who would fight my case and get the kids.

He said if I did things his way we would have a relationship again.

I chose the Truth.
_______

When I was 15, the last time we had some semblance of a relationship, he told me that if I chose to go to that church one more time, I would be out!
I told him I was going and went. When I returned home, I found all of my stuff in the front yard.
_______

In the courtroom, my dad and his lawyer were across the courtroom representing my ex-wife and my ex-brother-in-law, with whom she had the third affair.

To some, the truth comes easy and seems easy to be played with.

That was never the case for me.

Anybody who knows me now, including my children and very incredible wife, know I remained faithful to the Truth through others’ compromises.

David said it best:

“Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” – Psalms 139:7-14

There is nowhere to go and nothing else to believe in but the Truth of the Word of the One who is the ultimate in faithful to us.

The enemy lies about and cheapens who and what God makes precious.

“If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” – Matthew 4:6

Those are actual verses the enemy is quoting from Psalm 91:11-12.

The enemy tempted Jesus with verses he had taken out of context.

Does it surprise you then that he would do the same again.

The Truth IS personal for me.

I am so incredibly blessed now because I trusted Him over the lies and false promises of the enemy.

If you are believing in and continuing to be faithful to anyone or anything that is less than true to you, please reconsider.

It doesn’t matter who or how many people follow a lie or a liar, it is still a lie.

Know the Truth.

Make it personal.
