“”Everyone who has ears should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.
” I will give some of the hidden manna to everyone who wins the victory. I will also give to each one who wins the victory a white stone with a new name written on it. No one knows this new name except the one who receives it.” – Revelation 2:17

God’s timing is SO AMAZING!

I received two pieces of mail yesterday. One, which I opened first, was a box of old school papers and transcripts my mom had collected over the years.

What memories those brought to the surface. In one very old smelling manilla envelope were my grade school transcripts, these only covered a 6 year period and my many names were included on them. “Leslie Manthe,” “Leslie Sweigart,” “Leslie Gutwein,” and “Leslie Quigley.”

Memories of the men behind those names surfaced and as they did, I was reminded of how thoroughly God heals us. There are plenty of reasons my life should be an interesting one right now, and not necessarily a good one.

I moved the box just enough to see the corner of the other piece of mail that had arrived at the same time as the package. I couldn’t help but snicker a bit.

God loves me. Though I had even more opportunities beyond that box to change my name again, I kept this one. It was the original and I wanted to change its origin. Submitting it to God resulted in the name on the envelope, the one I want forever to be remembered as one returned to the Lord.

We each have a choice of what to do with our ‘Christian name’ as it were. You can change it, you can trash it, or you can glorify God with it. Mine changed a lot when i was a child because my parents couldn’t find what they were looking for.

Mine remains the same because God found who He was looking for, and for that, I am grateful. Even so, I look forward to receiving the ‘new name’ written on a white stone, God gives me. Something tells me I’ll have it much longer than I’ve had any of these. ūüėČ
