“So these people all settled in their own towns: the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Temple servants, and all the other people of Israel.” – Nehemiah 7:73
From devotions this morning, I wonder, are you ‘settled?’
Ezra, once the people were settled, begins reading God’s Word.
Once I’ve determined or ‘settled it’ in my heart that this is the route I’m taking, I’m ready to hear God’s Word.
Reading it, not interpreting it, Ezra and the other teachers of the Word ‘explain’ it to the people.
The result?
“Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send some of their food to others, and to celebrate with great joy. They finally understood what they had been taught.” – Nehemiah 8:12
A dear sister, whom I’ve known since my childhood, said yesterday, she ‘caught’ the Word we were taught.
We understood what we were taught.
That understanding has now led to generations ‘settled,’ determined to live for God.
