We’re on my favorite chapter in the Bible, one that’s just barely ahead of Psalm 119 and Hebrews 11.

Nehemiah 3 is a celebration of unity and uniqueness for me.

Asked once what I thought was the weakness of coming from a ‘mega’ church to a smaller church, my reply was instantly the awareness of my own ‘specialist,’ very unique, placement in the larger ‘body of Christ’ of the mega church versus the more ‘generalist,’ feel of taking on more diverse responsibilities all at once in a smaller church.

I remember feeling inadequate at first, but becoming a member with multiple responsibilities, in a church where other patient members help me to learn a more ‘generalist’ approach, has really blessed the transition.

In both, an awareness of each’s strengths and weaknesses, makes for a deeper appreciate of both.
