Read a post regarding racism this morning and wanted to address it from a biblical perspective.
First, among many verses supporting a reconciliatory instead of a divisive perspective is Romans 10:1-2:
“As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disappointed.” (Isaiah 28:16)
That Scripture says “anyone” because there is no difference between those who are Jews and those who are not.
The same Lord is the Lord of all and gives many blessings to all who trust in him,…”
In Acts 8:26-40, Philip walks this out when he directs an Ethiopian eunuch to understand the Word and become a believer.
Harmony, not hostility
“Christ himself is our peace. He made both Jewish people and those who are not Jews one people.
They were separated as if there were a wall between them, but Christ broke down that wall of hate by giving his own body.
The Jewish law had many commands and rules, but Christ ended that law. His purpose was to make the two groups of people become one new people in him and in this way make peace.” – Ephesians 2:14-15
“In Christ, there is no difference between Jew and Greek, slave and free person, male and female.
You are all the same in Christ Jesus. You belong to Christ, so you are Abraham’s descendants.
You will inherit all of God’s blessings because of the promise God made to Abraham.” – Galatians 3:28-29
The post I read referred to only one race’s perspective but we all know we all have our own ‘fragilities.’
Sin.
“If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!
All this is from God.
Through Christ, God made peace between us and himself, and God gave us the work of telling everyone about the peace we can have with him.
God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself.
In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of its sins. And he gave us this message of peace.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17-19
Are each of us made guilty again of the sins of our pasts?
Only here. Only by those who choose not to forgive or to be forgiven.
“If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!”
