Do I really believe God?
Do I really believe God’s Word?
Do I really believe it’s possible to be ‘great’ or to be ‘first’ in life?
Have I settled for mediocrity or worse, have I attempted the world’s temporal method of becoming great?
“Jesus called all the followers together and said, “You know that the rulers of the non-Jewish people love to show their power over the people. And their important leaders love to use all their authority.
But it should not be that way among you.
Whoever wants to become great among you must serve the rest of you like a servant.
Whoever wants to become first among you must serve the rest of you like a slave.
In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served. He came to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many people.” – Matthew 20:25-28
If you’re like me, you need to read that portion more than once, once in a while, to remind yourself that there is a ‘method to the madness.’
You see the world and its leaders. You see their domination and manipulation to get to the ‘top’ and you find it whispering in to your way of doing things.
We ARE called to be great.
We ARE called to be first.
“You know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize. So run to win!” – 1 Corinthians 9:24
We’re just NOT called to use the world’s method to get there.
