Into what role within the body of Christ were these two men, Steven and Philip, (and 5 others) called?
(Hint: Acts 6:2-3)
“Stephen was richly blessed by God who gave him the power to do great miracles and signs among the people. … But the Spirit was helping him to speak with wisdom, and his words were so strong that they could not argue with him.” – Acts 6:8, 10
“Philip went to the city of Samaria and preached about the Christ. When the people there heard Philip and saw the miracles he was doing, they all listened carefully to what he said. Many of these people had evil spirits in them, but Philip made the evil spirits leave. The spirits made a loud noise when they came out. Philip also healed many weak and crippled people there.” – Acts 8:5-7
On what two responsibilities within their role were the twelve apostles attempting to focus?
(Hint: Acts 6:2, 4)
“God says: In the last days I will pour out my Spirit on ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions, and
your old men will dream dreams.
At that time I will pour out my Spirit also on my male slaves and female slaves, and they will prophesy.
I will show miracles in the sky and on the earth: blood, fire, and thick smoke. The sun will become dark, the moon red as blood,
before the overwhelming and glorious day of the Lord will come.
Then ANYONE who calls on the Lord will be saved.” – Joel 2:28-32 & Acts 2:17-21
“Brothers and sisters, look at what you were when God called you. …” – 1 Corinthians 1:26
What were the qualifications of the seven chosen in Acts 6 before they were called?
“Jesus called all the followers together and said,
“You know that the rulers of the non-Jewish people love to show their power over the people. And their important leaders love to use all their authority.
But it should not be that way among you.
Whoever wants to become great among you must serve the rest of you like a servant. Whoever wants to become first among you must serve the rest of you like a slave.
In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served. He came to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many people.”” – Matthew 20:25-28
IF there really is an ‘apostolic’ revival taking place, wouldn’t that, therefore, mean there is a resurgence of Biblical teaching and prayer according to Acts 6:2 & 4
ARE the apostles and prophets the only ones to whom God gave the power to do great signs and wonders?
WHAT kind of authority or dominion has Jesus called us to according to Matthew 20:25-28?
“God, by his grace through Christ, called you to become his people. So I am amazed that you are turning away so quickly and believing something different than the Good News.
Really, there is no other Good News. But some people are confusing you; they want to change the Good News of Christ. We preached to you the Good News.
So if we ourselves, or even an angel from heaven, should preach to you something different, we should be judged guilty!
I said this before, and now I say it again: You have already accepted the Good News. If anyone is preaching something different to you, let that person be judged guilty!
Do you think I am trying to make people accept me?
No, God is the One I am trying to please.
Am I trying to please people?
If I still wanted to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” – Galatians 1:6-10
