Two of my eternals seemed to visit me in my dream. One, a dear big sister significantly more ‘lionhearted’ than me visited me at an academy as I was helping set it up with a number of young men whom I currently know as children.
She was cold and said I radiated such a warmth of the Lord. She lingered for a bit and then said she was ready to leave.
I reminded her of what I have told you. Time is only for the living. The moment she left what my dream seemed to make a school, she would step beyond the pages of this book.
There, instantly, ‘today’, as Jesus said to the repentant thief, she would be in paradise with the Lord. ‘Today’, again, we each would arrive there with all who had gone before us and were yet to go.
Then, as I crossed the hall to the entryway of another room, Jaclyn and other very precious to me was saying her goodbyes so dearly and matter of factly that it was sooner than she expected but still very much as she expected.
As I have always seen her, the daughter, the young adventurer of the Lord, she giddily looked beyond the last page and stepped toward it. I thanked her for being whom I so needed so often between the lines, between the turning of the pages, at the ends and beginnings of the chapters, (some of which I had had to read over and over again), and now, here, at the end of the book.
At what seemed the periphery of my dream, as if I could not see it directly or clearly, she looked back over her shoulder, smiled at Jaclyn and I, and stepped through.
I woke.
It’s 4:30am.
I lie in the top bunk of a sturdy bunk bed in a cabin filled with little hearts and a few leaders who snore blissfully like bears.
I’m awake and determined to remember this dream and this moment in which I am reminded that the words referring to time within the Word are for our mental comprehension and not that of our timeless spirit.
“The time is coming when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, and that time is here already. You see, the Father too is actively seeking such people to worship him.” – John 4:23
“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and we have not yet been shown what we will be in the future. But we know that when Christ comes again, we will be like him, because we will see him as he really is. Christ is pure, and all who have this hope in Christ keep themselves pure like Christ.” – 1 John 3:2-3
Some who read this will not ‘live’ to see the ‘rapture’, the sudden taking away, of the church but will experience their own personal ‘rapture’, their own sudden departure from this life.
Be ready. Be pure.
“All these great people died in faith. They did not get the things that God promised his people, but they saw them coming far in the future and were glad. They said they were like visitors and strangers on earth.
When people say such things, they show they are looking for a country that will be their own. If they had been thinking about the country they had left, they could have gone back. But they were waiting for a better country–a heavenly country.
So God is not ashamed to be called their God, because he has prepared a city for them.” – Hebrews 11:13-16
“All these people are known for their faith, but none of them received what God had promised. God planned to give us something better so that they would be made perfect, but only together with us.” – Hebrews 11:39-40
“…together with us.”
I don’t have the Internet out here but will as I get nearer the cafeteria when everyone wakes. This will post then.
I pray this is any kind of encouragement that you will see again those who have stepped beyond the pages of time.
For us here it may seem forever but there, it will be ‘today’.
“But encourage each other every day while it is “today.” Help each other so none of you will become hardened because sin has tricked you. We all share in Christ if we keep till the end the sure faith we had in the beginning.” – Hebrews 3:13-14
