My friend, Dave, posted this quote from “The Lord of the Rings”.
I could not have said it better myself.
“I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow.
Even darkness must pass.
A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.
Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now.

It inspired me to think of these verses:
“I told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble, but be brave! I have defeated the world.” – John 16:33
“You, LORD, give true peace to those who depend on you, because they trust you.” – Isaiah 26:3
“I will say to the LORD, “You are my place of safety and protection. You are my God and I trust you.”
God will save you from hidden traps and from deadly diseases. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you can hide.
His truth will be your shield and protection. You will not fear any danger by night or an arrow during the day.
You will not be afraid of diseases that come in the dark or sickness that strikes at noon.
At your side one thousand people may die, or even ten thousand right beside you, but you will not be hurt.
You will only watch and see the wicked punished.
The LORD is your protection; you have made God Most High your place of safety.” – Psalms 91:2-9
