“Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they will be one, just as you and I are one.” – John 17:11
From devotions this morning, I thought something a little different. The devotion suggested “no denominations, no hierarchies, no traditions.”
What if “non-denominational” churches were actually called “interdenominational” churches?
When the Robertson Road area flooded years ago, many churches, many denominations, came together as one and helped to relocate families, rebuild homes, and restore what the flood had taken.
When we allow our “denominations” to distinguish us and not divide us, we are capable of some amazing feats.
We are the body of Christ.
My nose doesn’t walk (though it may run, I suppose). My eyes see what no other part of my body sees. My fingers move more often and faster than any other consciously moving part of my body but are useless without my arms.
They are all very distinctly unique members of my “one” body.
May this be true of all of the characteristics that distinguish and not divide us.
