He abdicated!

What’s more important?

Is it to be the future king or to be obedient?

Everyone will tell you it is your ‘right’ to be or to do but if God has directed you to be or do something else, you will be more fulfilled in life through your obedience.

“But Saul’s son Jonathan went to David at Horesh and strengthened his faith in God. Jonathan told him, “Don’t be afraid, because my father won’t touch you. You will be king of Israel, and I will be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this.” The two of them made an agreement before the LORD. Then Jonathan went home, but David stayed at Horesh.” – 1 Samuel 23:16

Jonathan abdicated.

He followed God’s will instead of his dad’s.

He died on the battlefield.

He died obedient to a calling that defied logic, denying his right to the ultimate human power and authority he might have had.

He received no reward here on earth. He believed God for more than he might receive here.

What is worth more than being the king of a country?

Obedience.

I can’t wait to meet him!
