A co-worker pointed to my passion for truth as a result of our shared childhoods.

God’s house, the church has always been our ‘sanctuary.’

When I first saw “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” I felt like Quasimodo who had cried out for and found sanctuary in his church.

I loved when Calvary Temple had been renamed The House because it seemed more intimate than a temple and because it really had been MY ‘house’ all those years my homes had not been safe places.

As I left the church one night, there was a disheveled young man using one of our power outlets to charge his phone near the entrance.

I stopped and asked him if he would like any help or direction and our conversation led to his coming to one of our young men’s Bible studies that night.

“What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” – 2 Corinthians 6:16-18
