“But Ruth said, “Don’t beg me to leave you or to stop following you. Where you go, I will go.
Where you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.
And where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. I ask the LORD to punish me terribly if I do not keep this promise:
Not even death will separate us.”

When Naomi saw that Ruth had firmly made up her mind to go with her, she stopped arguing with her.” – Ruth 1:16-18

“Boaz answered her, “I know about all the help you have given your mother-in-law after your husband died. You left your father and mother and your own country to come to a nation where you did not know anyone. May the LORD reward you for all you have done. May your wages be paid in full by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for shelter.”

Then Ruth said, “I hope I can continue to please you, sir. You have said kind and encouraging words to me, your servant, though I am not one of your servants.”” – Ruth 2:11-13

“The officer who carried Jonathan’s armor said to him, “Do whatever you think is best. Go ahead. I’m with you.” – 1 Samuel 14:7

“Many people claim to be loyal, but it is hard to find a trustworthy person” – Proverb 20:6

When I came to Calvary Temple in 1973, now The House, I felt like Ruth, who “did not know anyone.” I was one of the very fortunate children they picked up on their busses.
I have been very blessed to have had the opportunity to serve some great leaders who valued loyalty.

I have also served a few who had no idea what to do with it.

In the end, we all ‘serve’ someone.

How well will you do so?

“The master answered, ‘You did well. You are a good and loyal servant. Because you were loyal with small things, I will let you care for much greater things. Come and share my joy with me.’” – Matthew 25:23

I can tell you from experience that the ‘greater things’ of this verse refers to quantity and only sometimes, quality. 😉

I have been very blessed to do ‘small things’ for great (as in quality) people and the older I get, the more often I have had such opportunities.
