I am the follower whom Jesus loves.
John, in his gospel, refers to himself as, “the one whom Jesus loved”.
Now, we know that he is referring to himself, but I think there’s a little something he does here, for us.
Any reader of John’s Gospel who desires to be a “follower whom Jesus loves” can insert themselves into the verse.
Take this one, for example:
“…she ran to Simon Peter and the follower whom Jesus loved. Mary said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him.”
Then the other follower, who had reached the tomb first, also went in. He saw and believed.” – John 20:2-8
Would you be “the one whom Jesus loved”?
Would you arrive first?
Would you enter in?
Would you see?
Would you believe?
