Ever get one of these secret decoder rings in a box of Wheat Chex when you were a kid?
I remember my friend Steven and I had gotten the same one somehow.
We would send each other encrypted messages that, only if you had the same ring or could decipher the substitution method utilized, could only be read by each other.
Sometimes, the Word and Way of God can seem ‘encrypted.’
It was written for your spirit.
The Holy Spirit is our decoder ring.
When I spend time in prayer, seeking God’s presence, here, as I’m opening the Word, it seems so beyond me until … it … isn’t.
A very precious one to me was very far away and had made some choices that others in their life said I would never forgive them for. They said we would never be close to each other again or know each other like we use to.
Then, they received the same decoder Ring that I had received.
Jesus substituted His own life for theirs as He did for mine.
They understood.
“”I tell you that her many sins are forgiven, so she showed great love. But the person who is forgiven only a little will love only a little.”
Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”” – Luke 7:47-48
My sins were great. I needed a serious decoder ring. I needed a serious Substitution.
The ring was a free gift.
