“I was brought into this world in sin. In sin my mother gave birth to me.” – Psalms 51:5

I was born this way, right?

Observing Max or Em, thinking about us, am more aware of our ‘base’ attitudes and actions.

What came ‘natural’ to Em only a few years ago required me to change his diapers and clothing periodically.

This morning, a moment ago, Em stops what he’s doing, watching a cartoon, says “gotta go pee,” and runs down the hall to the bathroom.

If left to ‘born this way,’ he would have continued to relieve himself in his clothing.

It was necessary for Jaclyn and I to assist him in recognizing the move from his ‘base’ nature and instinct to the mature way of relieving himself.

It was his responsibility to receive that training and choose to obey it.

Imagine if he had demanded I allow him to continue to do ‘what comes natural’ because he was ‘born this way.’

It’d be a crappy world, wouldn’t it? (pun intended)

Do you know why there are some ‘cultures’ that encourage ours to pursue and legalize our ‘base’ behaviors?

“To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.”

“So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.” – Sun Tzu

Like my son and like Psalm 51:5 points out, we are all born ‘base.’

Ed Cole of the “Majoring in Men” series stated, “We justify what we choose not to overcome.”

Wake up! Strengthen what you have left before it dies completely. I have found that what you are doing is less than what my God wants.
So do not forget what you have received and heard. Obey it, and change your hearts and lives. So you must wake up, or I will come like a thief, and you will not know when I will come to you.
But you have a few there in Sardis who have kept their clothes unstained, so they will walk with me and will wear white clothes, because they are worthy. – Revelation 3:2-4

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with me.
“Those who win the victory will sit with me on my throne in the same way that I won the victory and sat down with my Father on his throne. – Revelation 3:20-21
