“What do people really gain from all the hard work they do here on earth?” – Ecclesiastes 1:3

“Everything is boring, so boring that you don’t even want to talk about it. Words come again and again to our ears, but we never hear enough, nor can we ever really see all we want to see. All things continue the way they have been since the beginning. What has happened will happen again; there is nothing new here on earth.” – v. 8-9

“Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning. I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me.

Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ.” – Galatians 1:10-12

“There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.” – Proverb 14:12

How much has human effort, human ‘reasoning,’ really accomplished?

Why do we continue to trust it, to exhaust ourselves utilizing it instead of letting go of “…here on earth.” long enough to go to God in prayer.

We exasperate ourselves in vain attempts at human effort for human approval of our humanly acquired results and then say, like the wisest man in the world,

“What do people really gain from all the hard work they do here on earth?”
