May the Lord resurrect your courage!

“God would not have had to say “don’t” unless we were prone to “do.”

“Be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid of them and don’t be frightened, because the LORD your God will go with you. He will not leave you or forget you. Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in front of the people, “Be strong and brave, because you will lead these people into the land the LORD promised to give their ancestors, and help them take it as their own. The LORD himself will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forget you. Don’t be afraid and don’t worry.”” – Deuteronomy 31:6-8

Joshua was one of my heroes. Before he was the leader, he was the supporter of the man God called to lead the people out of Egypt.
He was one of the spies who believed God was greater than the challenges the people would face in taking the Promised Land.
He was also like my childhood self, the son of Nun (none) as I had felt then.

Mr. Kazas, my friend Ben’s grandpa, was my Sunday School teacher and had told our class that first line.
I remember asking him after class if he thought Joshua had been afraid though he was such a hero.
“God would not have had to say “don’t” unless we were prone to “do.” he said.

“… don’t be afraid and don’t worry.”

“The LORD himself will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forget you.”
