Why do you do what you do?

“Jonathan said to his officer who carried his armor, “Come. Let’s go to the camp of those men who are not circumcised. Maybe the LORD will help us. The LORD can give us victory if we have many people, or just a few.” The officer who carried Jonathan’s armor said to him, “Do whatever you think is best. Go ahead. I’m with you.” – 1 Samuel 14:6-7

Did you catch the officer’s name?

Me, neither.

There are those who say, “If you saw us, we failed.”

Another set of verses puts it like this:

“”You know that the rulers of the non-Jewish people love to show their power over the people. And their important leaders love to use all their authority. But it should not be that way among you.
Whoever wants to become great among you must serve the rest of you like a servant.
Whoever wants to become first among you must serve the rest of you like a slave.
In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served.
He came to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many people.”” – Matthew 20:25-28

Do you REALLY believe Jesus’ words here?

One of our teachers used to say, “God will use for great purposes those who won’t seek the glory.”

You’re here for a ‘limited time only’ and there for eternity.

In which would you rather be known?
